In Newark, New Jersey, commuters definitely were not expecting to see an 800-pound bull with huge white horns on the loose, running along the New Jersey Transit train tracks on Thursday morning. The first reports came in about 10:30 a.m. at Newark Penn Station.

It had been the New Jersey Transit who shared the photo of the bull standing on the tracks which delayed commuters for 45 minutes for trains traveling from Newark Penn Station to Pennsylvania Station in New York City.

It wasn’t long before “police activity” had commuters very interested and perhaps confused at the same time. It is suspected the bull had been heading for a slaughterhouse not far away from where he was originally spotted.

Members of the Newark Police Emergency Services Unit and Port Authority PD assisted in locating the bull, containing him inside of a fenced area, and then sedating him.

Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Wantage, New Jersey rescued him; the lucky bull now named Ricardo.

Check out Ricardo’s rescue video after he recovered from sedation, got back on his feet and was ready to preview his new home. Welcome Ricardo!
