Sheriff’s Office mourns sudden death of beloved K9

Coquille, OR – On Thursday, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office lost a beloved K9 officer to a sudden illness. The Belgian Malinois, Raven, suffered a medical incident Wednesday night and she was rushed to a veterinarian for emergency care.

Prior to Raven’s death, the Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit said:

Please pray 🙏🏼 for Raven this morning and send her your positive thoughts💜 Raven became sick last night and Jon has rushed her to the vet. We do not have much information as of now, However Raven is currently in surgery. Please keep her, Jon and his family in your thoughts.

A short time later, the heartbreaking news of her passing was shared with followers of the sheriff’s office Facebook page:

Thank you for your prayers, unfortunately 💜Raven crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge just a few minutes ago. Our hearts are broken. Please lift up Jon and his family during this difficult time.

Sharing details about what comes next:

Our beautiful little girl will be going to Coos Bay Chapel at noon today from Meekins. If you would like to help support Jon, his family, and the CCSO K9 program please come and join us at Hanson-Meekins animal hospital as we see her go.
We are all beyond devastated but will continue to honor our #raveytrain. We love you Raven.

  1. Another brave K-9 watching over our pets at the Rainbow Bridge. My sincere condolences to Raven’s handler, family and fellow officers I know how much she will be missed.
