A K9 with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office ingested a deadly substance over the weekend while searching for a burglary suspect. The authorities recounted what happened to social media followers on Sunday:
Please send Raven 💜 your positive thoughts and prayers. Raven got called out this morning to a report of a burglary in progress in the Bandon area. The suspect was reported to be in the attic of the occupied residence. Raven and her dad (Deputy Boswell) deployed into the attic to search for the suspect. Ultimately no suspect was present in the attic.
During this search Raven ingested some anti-freeze, which had been placed in the attic for rodents.
Raven was taken to the Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center to undergo “rigorous” treatments to help her survive. A promising update was shared on Sunday evening:

Raven’s personality is like nothing ever happened lol. Super excited to see me. Wants to play. The medicine is administered in staggered doses and she is in between treatments, so no iv right not so a little more happy to be free from that lol. Someone dropped off a stuffed animal for her.
So far, the treatment seems to be working. On Monday morning, the authorities said that Raven’s kidneys were “unaffected” and she had a lot of energy. After more blood work is completed, Raven may get to leave the veterinary hospital.
