Police in Pullman, Washington, are investigating a case of possible animal cruelty after finding a dozen dead animals inside of an apartment not far from Washington State University. As reported by Pullman Radio, the investigation started after the local animal control agency was told there was a dead ferret and dog inside of an apartment unit at the Ruckus Apartments in the College Hill area.
Authorities found a menagerie of deceased animals inside of the apartment, including a deceased dog, three dead ferrets, three dead sugar glider possums, two dead rodents, a deceased boa snake, a dead bearded dragon and a deceased gecko. Animals that were still alive were seized from the residence, including two dogs, two cats, two hedgehogs, one bearded dragon, one gecko and a tortoise. The surviving animals were taken to Washington State University’s veterinary school and the Whitman County Humane Society.
The residents of the apartment, described as two college-aged individuals, are being investigated for animal cruelty and neglect. Their names have not been publicly released. Earlier this month, a live bunny was found in the garbage dumpster at Cougar Ridge apartments. It is unknown if the bunny is tied in any way to the situation at the Ruckus Apartment. The live bunny was rehomed.
