Yesterday, an elderly dog was left at a South Carolina animal shelter with a request from her family for her to be euthanized. According to the Orangeburg County Animal Control and Shelter, there was no explanation for the request…aside from the fact that the Labrador retriever named Fancy’s age of 14 years.
In a Facebook post, the shelter said:
Bewildered and confused, Fancy cannot understand why her family left her in a cold unfamiliar place, where there are no soft beds for her tired body.
Fortunately, Fancy’s story will not end where her former owner intended. The shelter said:
it will be ok, Fancy. We won’t throw you away. We will make sure you are warm and safe and loved for as long as you have left.
The shelter requested that Fancy’s “hero” be found, and by Thursday morning, it appears that the plea for help was answered. The top of Fancy’s post now reads “Rescued!”
Fancy will not die scared, confused and alone thanks to the kindness of strangers.
