Last summer, eight hard-to-place wolf dog mixes were taken in by a shelter in North Carolina. On February 14, the Orange County Animal Services facility let followers of the ongoing situation know that, after a “very long stay,” all of the wolfdogs had found somewhere safe to go. The animal welfare agency writes:

All wolfdogs have been safely and humanely placed with organizations that are committed to giving them a good life. The remaining 3 wolfdogs left OCAS last night (2/16)!

Many of you have been following the story of the wolfdogs that entered our facility in 2021. After a very long stay with us, 5 of them have found appropriate sanctuary placement! So, we wanted to post the happy update!

On February 11, three of the wolfdogs went to a sanctuary in Wisconsin (Heroes and Hybrids program at Mattersville). And on January 30, two fo the wofldogs went to Wolfwood Refuge in Colorado. The agency expressed happiness that the situation had been resolved on a positive note:

We are so incredibly happy to see these beautiful animals find appropriate placement where they can thrive. Many thanks to OCAS staff for all of their care and hard work, and of course many thanks to these amazing organizations for providing wonderful homes!

The wolfdogs were originally taken in at the animal services facility after a total of 12 got loose from their owner’s property and had to be captured; one of the escaped wolfdogs died after being hit by a car and two were never found. One of the dogs turned out to be a German shepherd and it was adopted to a new home.
