A stunning, three-year-old dog has been given a timestamp on his life at a busy California animal control agency. The Siberian husky, named Crixus, was surrendered by his family to the Baldwin Park Animal Services facility back in April – his former owners told shelter staff that Crixus has always been a fearful dog.
The Saving Baldwin Shelter Dogs Facebook page writes of the danger that Crixus is in:
72 HOUR NOTICE TODAY 8-31🆘 for being scared and no one working with him to help him feel better. He just sits 5 MONTHS NOW only to probably lose his life!💔 We really hope someone can save this poor scared guy and give him a chance.
Outlining the dog’s fearful personality:
Adopting Party needs to be aware that Crixus is very fearful of new people, and it takes him a long time to become comfortable with new people and new surroundings. Per the surrendering owner, Crixus has been fearful since he was a puppy, and remained fearful even after they tried to socialize him with other people. Owner stated that Crixus has never tried to bite anyone, but he is a flight risk. Crixus should ALWAYS be on leash outside of the home, and needs to be supervised while in the yard to make sure that he does not escape as he will panic and be very difficult to catch. Owner stated that Crixus likes treats, and that is how they were able to socialize him with family members that he saw frequently. Adopting party needs to be aware that Crixus will need plenty of time to adjust to his new home.
Crixus needs a special family, who will seek training and show him love and patience. You can help find that person by sharing his adoption information.
