An Indiana man was arrested and is facing a felony animal cruelty charge after a puppy was found hanging from a tree in the woods. As reported by AL.com News, 42-year-old Jasen Charles Howard is believed to be responsible for the cruel act.
A witness saw a man walk into the woods in Jackson County, Alabama, with a puppy on Thursday morning – when the man walked back out without the puppy, the witness searched the area and found a female bulldog mix hanging from a tree. Miraculously the pup, dubbed Valentine, was still alive and she is being cared for at a Scottsboro animal shelter.
Howard told the authorities that he thought the puppy was suffering from Parvo and he wanted to put her out of her misery by hanging her – testing on the pup revealed that she does not have the deadly disease.
Howard is facing the felony animal cruelty charge as well as drug charges for paraphernalia that was found on him when he was arrested – he was taken to the Jackson County jail.
