Woman abandoned dog - tied her to dumpster in the cold

Woman accused of tying emaciated dog to a dumpster and leaving her in the cold

A woman in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is accused of tying an emaciated dog to a dumpster and abandoning her in the cold. As reported by TribLive, 49-year-old Jwanna Martin is identified as the woman who abandoned the malnourished pit bull, Remy, on December 4.

Martin claims that Remy did not get along with her dog and that family members, and the landlord, had asked for the dog to be rehomed. Martin’s boyfriend had brought the dog home two months before Martin took it upon herself to get rid of Remy by tying her to a dumpster in the Knoxville neighborhood.

When Remy was found on the morning of December 4, the temperature was near the freezing mark. A filthy, feces-filled cage was also found on top of the dumpster. The dog was taken to Humane Animal Rescue for care.

Martin’s decision to abandon the dog has resulted in multiple charges, including two counts of cruelty to animals and three counts of neglect.
