A man is wanted for abandoning an emaciated puppy, frail and near death, on the street in Washington, D.C. According to The Humane Rescue Alliance, the nine-month-old puppy was abandoned across the street from One Eight Distilling on Okie St. NE on July 10.

The animal welfare agency describes the vehicle associated with the puppy’s abandonment:

Surveillance footage shows the man driving a four door, dark-colored sedan, possibly a Dodge Charger, missing its hood.

Humane Rescue Alliance is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person or persons involved in this puppy’s abuse and abandonment.  Anyone with information is asked to call 202-723-5730, option 1.

“We are determined to bring this dog’s abuser to justice, but we need help from the community to do so,” said Chris Schindler, Vice President of Field Services at the Humane Rescue Alliance. “We hope this reward will motivate any witnesses or others with information about this crime to come forward immediately.”

On Monday, the animal welfare agency stated:

The puppy, whom we have named Shepherd, is severely emaciated and suffering from mange and a secondary skin condition. He receiving emergency veterinary care and is doing well.
