A dog has somehow managed to stay alive for days, despite being hopelessly wedged between boulders in Ellijah, Georgia. The terrible situation was brought to light in a frantic social media post on Wednesday:

“This dog has been stuck in this hole for THREE days! We’re located in Ellijay GA! He’s jammed between the rocks and can’t get out. He keeps getting jammed further and further down as time passes and he struggles.”

According to the Facebook user, the fire department was called, but they claimed that they were unable to assist. Animal control officers were apparently unable to help either…the Facebook user wrote:

“Somebody help people out or share it so others can see… He’s cold and hungry and thirsty! 😭😭 They believe the rocks will have to be blown up but if anyone has the equipment to do this or a better approach they need your help!”

An update has since been made indicating that the trapped dog is still alive and rescuers have arrived – they are attempting to safely extract the dog from his awful predicament.

“He’s still alive and SEVERAL people with equipment are out there now trying to save him while waiting for MORE help from professionals DNR is there now. This fella really got stuck! Please continue to pray for these amazing folks out here in the cold saving this sweet boy for strangers! They don’t need anymore people on site!! Just pray the ones there can help!!”

No further information is currently available about the dog. Updates will be shared when they are available.

Did you know that if you want to get updates from a Facebook page, you have to do more than just “like” it? To get recent postings in your Facebook feed, you must also hover your mouse over the word “following” and then click “see first” from the drop-down menu. You may want to check back with your favorite pages on occasion because Facebook often changes your settings, no longer having your favorites among those to “see first.”

Sounds like neither the fire department nor animal control acted like they could not be bothered to even attempt to save this dog – PLEASE save Elijah! To just walk away sure shows that these two departments are deplorable since they did not even attempt to help. We are praying for Elijah and hopefully some caring humans will come through for him. Keep us updated.

According to an update on the individual’s Facebook page, the dog did not make it. At least he wasn’t alone in the end. Looks like a Coonhound so of course I’m crying even more.

There is an update in the main post. Unfortunately the poor dog passed away 1:30 in the morning. At least he wasn’t alone.
