A dog in Harveys Lake, Pennsylvania, is believed to have given his life while trying to protect his owner from a man who launched a violent rampage with a baseball bat last week. According to WNEP News, last Tuesday, 34-year-old Charlie Ide allegedly went after his mother, Andrea Ozovek, with a baseball bat.
When the dog, a mastiff who Ide’s mother had rescued and nursed back to health, tried to defend Ozovek from her son, the man beat the dog to death with a baseball bat. Harveys Lake police Charles Musial recounted to the Citizens Voice what the woman told him when he arrived at the home where the violence erupted last Tuesday, “As soon as I walked in, the first thing she said to me was, ‘The dog saved my life.'”
The faithful dog suffered life-ending head trauma in the attack – Ozovek was seriously injured as well, suffering a broken arm, lacerated head and a brain bleed.
Ide was taken to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility where he is being held without bail.
