The toll of time is readily apparent on Katrina, a beautiful 14-year-old German shepherd, who was surrendered by her owner on July 20 to the Los Angeles County Animal Services facility in Baldwin Park, California. It is easy to see that Katrina was stunning in her younger days…her coat was once lush, her eyes bright, and her legs strong.
Today, Katrina’s spirit remains strong, even if her body is not. On Thursday, a woman who paid Katrina a visit wrote, “Her spirit is there, her determination. If only her back legs had that same strength. She got up and was happy to leave her kennel and venture outside with me, paying no attention to the barking dogs in the building she hobbled by.“
Katrina’s body is tired – the last place that she should be is alone in a kennel run. Instead, she should be pampered and spoiled – she should be resting on a supportive bed and whispered sweet nothings from a compassionate friend. Please help Katrina find her way out of this animal control facility by taking a moment to share her adoption information.

Too old to be cherished by her POS family.
Fingers crossed for her sunset home and care.

God bless you!
OMG! If I didn’t already have 7 rescues, the oldest I rescued last year is 12 years old, I would adopt her in a heartbeat! What is the matter with people that give up their dog when it gets older? The people that I rescued my last dog were going to have her KILLED if they could not find someone to take her. At 11 years old, this poor Chihuahua only weighed 2 1/2 pounds she had very few teeth left, she has supposed liver damage. I have doubled her weight. She is such a happy girl that does not act her age at all. In fact, she loves to play fetch for hours on end! She is the only dog that I have that does that! I believe in giving old dogs a wonderful life for however long that they may have!
You are an angel! Senior dogs have a special place in my heart. My dream is to, some day, be a sanctuary for them. If only people could know how special they are. Thank you for what you do.
How could they surrender her at 14?? How cruel?. Poor dog. She must be so confused. My heart aches for her. Some people really suck!
Anyone who has ever been owned by a German Shepherd, knows the devotion is second to none. Shame on her family for abandoning her at her age. She would never do that to them. I hope she finds a wonderful place to live out the rest of her years.
SAFE
The only “Fitting End for the individual/individuals who were so cold and callus as to dump their beloved pet for someone else to “put her down” if for their Loving Family Members ” to find the cheapest, overcrowded, rundown, urine soaked, understaffed, pour nutritional, assisted care center , do dump them in and sell their home, close their bank accounts, and leave them there ALONE TO DIE IN THEIR OWN WASTE!!!!! BY BY sweet Mommy and Daddy we will have fun with your assets!!!!
Very sad to leave a loyal friend when they need you most. It sounds like this dog is ready to cross the Rainbow bridge.
My rescued 17yr Jack’s back legs hardly support him but his heart and mind are strong. I carry him outside to do his business sometimes having to support him. He can still walk some and loves to walk around outside. He was abandoned by his original family at the age of 11 because he stunk. I put him on a good diet with no corn, wheat, or soy and the stink went away.

God bless all you people that do that and take those rescues in because I my heart I can understand why you’d want to get rid of your dog has so many years and I’ll finish out the life together I thank God for you guys and I appreciate it
IF I LIVED CLOSE I WOULD TAKE HER IN A HEART BEAT, BUT I LIVE IN INDIANA, MY DOG WOULD LOVE HER
