A Phoenix woman got a heart-stopping surprise a few days ago when she discovered a rattlesnake curled up in the backseat of her car.

According to LiveNews5, Milan Watt believes the unwelcome passenger snuck in unnoticed while she was loading groceries at her grandparents’ house. The snake, estimated to be 2.5 to 3 feet long, could have been a hidden hitchhiker for up to two weeks before Watt spotted it.

Thankfully, Watt’s boyfriend was in the car with her and saw the snake’s tongue flicking before it rattled or hissed. While the encounter could have been much scarier, Watt admits to being frozen in shock. Unable to get help from emergency services as the situation wasn’t life-threatening, Watt’s boyfriend used a branch to carefully remove the rattlesnake from the car.

This incident serves as a reminder to be vigilant, especially in Arizona where rattlesnakes are common. Watt’s experience highlights the importance of checking your car thoroughly before driving, especially after being in areas with wildlife.

There are expert wildlife rescues or companies that will come out to remove the snakes. Experts warn citizens to stay back from the snakes until help arrives.

No one, including the rattle snake, was injured.
