An elderly couple in California is mourning the unexpected loss of their senior dog, who was brutally beaten during a home invasion last week. As reported by ABC 7 News, someone entered the Lawson’s home in Yorba Linda, and attacked their 13-year-old toy poodle, Fifi.
Whoever broke into the house stole cash and a gun, and ransacked the home – but nothing devastated 91-year-old George, and 77-year-old Peggy, as much as the attack on their innocent dog, who used to do work as a therapy dog. Peggy told the news agency about Fifi’s condition after the attack, explaining that she was, “Hugging her and kissing her, she tried to kiss me back and whined, and I said I won’t put her through one more minute of pain.”
Fifi had to be humanely euthanized because of severe injuries, including a punctured lung and multiple broken ribs.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crime – anyone with information is asked to call the authorities. Peggy has expressed her disgust with whoever is responsible, “Scum of the earth, that’s all I can say. If they catch them, don’t let me near them.”
