Woman who dyed her dog red to attract Tik Tok followers reacts to backlash

0

Under the Tik Tok handle @danthebigreddog, a Great Pyreenes pup named Dandy (short for Dandelion) has been dyed bright red. The dog’s owner, Chloe has been catching a lot of backlash from viewers – some even accusing her of “animal abuse.”

Chloe has tried to defend herself on her decision to dye her dog bright red, and explained that she feels more secure because it’s less likely that her dog would be stolen and a lot easier should that happen to identify her pooch. She added that Dandelion would not be hit by a car thanks to his brightly colored coat and a much easier dog to spot should he run out into the road. Chloe also mentioned that the dye was good for his fur.

In a video which she shared on TikTok as well as on Instagram, Chloe added that she uses dog-friendly Opawz Dog Hair Dye, which is advertised as non-toxic and which, according to Chloe, makes the dog’s hair very soft and fluffy. The color can last up to 20 washings.

On another note worth considering, Chloe said that her 130 pound dog is now more approachable to people, and as they pass by – they smile instead of making a wide detour because of Dandy’s size

Some harsh criticism followed, while some internet users defended Chloe and said as long as she was using the dye safely on her dog, that choice was her prerogative. Some people stated that Dandy looked gorgeous.

Checking out Instagram and Tik Tok, Dandy does seem to be happy and healthy. It is doubtful the dog really cares about what color he is, so it’s obviously not weighing on his personality nor his canine friends’ acceptance standards.

As for Tik Tok, Dandy has garnered more than 334,000 followers and on Instagram, the big red dog has 3,155 followers. Perhaps – all in a day’s work for a Clifford look-alike?

Check out one of Dandy’s videos here:

Dog brothers abandoned at Romania shelter and 10 years later they still have no homes

If “rescued” is your favorite breed of dogs, perhaps we can all rally together to help Lila, Axl and Portos find homes. The three are affectionately referred to as the Three Amigos. Since they were puppies, the siblings have lived at Nobody Dogs Rescue in Romania, and no one has ever applied to adopt any of them. And now ten years later, isn’t it about time they all found their own humans to love them?

Axl and his siblings were brought to the Shelter many years ago at only six months old. And there, all these years later he remains, all his siblings adopted and him overlooked time and time again. He has grown up with Lila and Portos (the Three Amigos). He is happy and cheerful, well balanced and never shown the slightest aggression or grouchiness.

Nobody Dogs Rescue Facebook

None of these dogs have set a paw out of the shelter in a decade. Sadly, all of the dogs have similar stories.

Beautiful boy Lila, has a similar story… Rescued when he was just 2 months old, along with His siblings, he lives in the shelter since the year of 2012. Happy boy, healthy boy, cheerful boy, beautiful boy, But still no one Felt it in their heart to Take him Home 🙁 Medium size, vaccinated, wormed, in very Good shape, lovely ❤️All His LIFE in the kennel

Nobody Dogs Rescue Facebook

Lila is a friendly pooch who can often be shy when meeting new people. Portos, on the other hand, is extremely outgoing and has what is described as a “playful” personality. All of the dogs are leashed trained and know basic commands. The dogs are good with other dogs and “older” children.

These dogs have never lived in a home and will need patient humans to help them adjust to family life, and even though it would all be so perfect if the dogs could live together in a home of their own, if it means separating them to give them the lives they deserve, then it will be arranged.

An older German shepherd is currently “at-risk” of being put down at a busy animal control agency in Texas. The dog, dubbed Ganfor, is at the San Antonio Animal Care Services facility and he was “due out” by February 14.

Shelter pup with pointy ears and underbite who looked like a bat sent social media wild until she found a home

0
Spread the love

The social media site Reddit has all kinds of very interesting “sub-reddits” and for animal lovers there’s r/WhatsWrongWithYourDog which encourages interesting and adorable banter accompanied by photos of dogs being especially funny, talented or in some cases lonely.

Nearly two weeks ago, “pixieclifton” – a sub-reddit fan posted a photo of a black dog with pointy ears and a substantial underbite. She had been named “Bat” and from her looks, there was no argument there; the girl looked like a large bat. Sadly, she was in a kill shelter in Arkansas, and she didn’t seem to have too many adoption prospects.

The post read:

This little derp-faced cutie is up for adoption in my town. If I didn’t already have two dogs, my feet would have wings on the way to the shelter. Meet Bat. A more apt name does not exist.

Reddit
r/WhatsWrongWithYourDog - This little derp-faced cutie is up for adoption in my town. If I didn’t already have two dogs, my feet would have wings on the way to the shelter. Meet Bat. A more apt name does not exist.

As it may have been expected, because dog owners are just so cool with huge hearts for the underdogs of the world, Bat’s photo and story went viral. By the next day, the shelter told “pixieclifton” that Bat had four calls that day. Bat wasn’t in danger of being euthanized at that point since the shelter wasn’t full, but we all know circumstances at animal shelters remain very fluid and could change at any time.

“Pixieclifton” appealed to the Reddit users to help find Bat a home, and assured everyone she would be keeping a close eye on this Chow mix. She already had two dogs of her own, and although she wouldn’t let any cruel fate come to Bat, she hoped the dog would find a home soon.

Less than one week after the story about Bat went viral, a shelter volunteer reached out to Pixieclifton to share the good news. A family had already fallen in love with Bat after reading about the dog on Facebook, adopted the pooch and updated everyone with a photo and some information.

Update for those who asked. BAT HAS BEEN ADOPTED! Which one you lucky folks got her?? We demand photos!

Senior dog dumped at shelter was so matted and neglected no one knew her foot had fallen off

Spread the love

At 10-years-old Trinity was surrendered to a shelter in North Carolina. The tiny Shih Tzu mix was so matted the staff at the shelter were unable to tell if the filthy pooch was a male or a female. Because she was such a mess, and perhaps wanting to give her a chance to be adopted, Trinity was sent to a local groomer to be shaved down; at least make her more comfortable for a few days.

Tragically, it wasn’t long before her groomer discovered she had been so matted that it had cut off the circulation to her foot, and the bottom of her limb had literally fallen off. One can only imagine the pain Trinity must have endured.

Happy Tails Rescue has stepped up to help this dog, and Trinity has already been resting comfortably in a foster home receiving medical treatment and love. Trinity will no longer be unloved, unwanted, neglected or scared.

Rescue owners charged with cruelty after discovery of ailing dogs

0
Spread the love

Two people who ran a Texas dog rescue agency have been arrested and charged with animal cruelty following the discovery of poor living conditions and dogs who were ailing at their property in Winona. As reported by KLTV News, the authorities arrested Tina Loper, 53, of Winona, and Eric Wayne Morris; the couple ran Dog Days Ranch and Rescue.

A total of 38 dogs were rescued from the property in January – one of the dogs was in such poor condition that she had to be euthanized. According to KETK News, there had once been 124 dogs living on the property. The rescue operators admitted that they got in over their heads while trying to save dogs. Constable Josh Joplin from Precinct 4 told the news agency:

“If you’re not going to take care of your animals, if you’re going to have dogs, cats or horses or any animal of that nature, that is in any kind of medical issue or they are having some kind of malnourishment problem, or you just don’t want to take care of your animals– we are not going to have that in this county. If you don’t want to take care of your animals, don’t have one.”

The dogs seized from the property were taken in for emergency care and will be turned over to the Humane Society of the United States after they are cleared.

Loper and Morris were arrested and then released after posting bond.

Senior dog surrendered at 11 years of age after death of owner

3
Spread the love

A senior dog, 11 years of age, has been surrendered to a busy California animal control agency after the death of her owner. The Chihuahua, named Pepper, was surrendered to the Carson Animal Services facility on February 9 by relatives of her deceased owner who did not think they were “responsible enough” to care for her.

Now the senior dog is trying to cope with the loss of everything that she once knew…her home, her bed, her toys, her people – all gone in an instant.

The Saving Carson Shelter Dogs Facebook page writes:

The Carson Animal Care Center is requesting rescue/adoption/networking assistance for A5461929 Pepper, our shy 11 year old female Chihuahua.
Pepper was surrendered yesterday 02/09/22, due to her previous owner passing away and the next of kin felt they were not responsible enough to provide care or medical attention for Pepper.
Pepper has an approximate 5 inch diameter growth at right inguinal abdomen. Our Care Center is hoping to receive rescue assistance for Pepper in order for her to receive further care for her needs.

Pepper is shy and timid at the animal shelter – undoubtedly upset by all that she has lost. Pepper has a large mass on her abdomen and she will need to receive veterinary care by whoever takes her in.

DNA solves ‘mystery’ of dog or coyote that was rescued by woman

2
Spread the love

Thanks to DNA testing, the mystery of whether an animal who was rescued from the cold in Pennsylvania, was a dog or coyote, has been answered. In January, Christina Eyth noticed a “dog” outside who was scared and cold, and she knew that it needed help. When Eyth got close to the animal, she could see that it actually was not her neighbor’s dog, but realized that the canine still needed help, so she brought it into her basement to keep it warm.

The animal was in such poor health that it was difficult to know if he was a coyote or a dog. After being transferred to Wildlife Works Inc., a DNA sample was obtained and this week, the results came back – the animal was a coyote. On Monday, Wildlife Works updated curious Facebook followers:

Wildlife Works-Mount Pleasant

The results are in! Our “mystery animal” DNA sample came back, 100% coyote!
Thank you again to everyone who has supported us and followed this story. We are so thankful!

In late January, the coyote busted out of his cage, destroyed a room, and trashed a window to escape from the wildlife rehab facility. He hasn’t been seen since.

Florida firefighters rescue pup stuck in 15-foot-deep hole

In Paxton, Florida, rescue workers from South Walton Fire District’s Technical Rescue Team (TRT) responded to a mutual aid call on Wednesday afternoon when their partners at Walton County Fire Rescue, Florida reported a dog had fallen into a 15-foot deep hole.

The firefighters arrived on the scene and assessed the air quality in the hole and once it was deemed safe to enter, the firefighters used a ladder attached to a safety line.

The firefighter descended the ladder and made contact with the dog, who was very friendly, then used webbing to build the dog a safety harness.

The dog appeared unharmed. Shortly after the rescue, the Walton County Animal Control and Walton County Public Works arrived at the scene to evaluate the dog’s health and fill the hole.
