In Largo, Florida, twin sisters were arrested last week after allegedly throwing their pet chihuahua out of the passenger side window of a moving car. It had been on January 22, 2026 when authorities stated Tracey Fitzgerald and her twin sister Stacey, 54, had been traveling in a SUV.
Tracey had been driving while Stacey, the dog’s owner, had been in the passenger seat. According to an eyewitness, Tracey threw the dog out of the window, and it landed on the sidewalk about five feet from their vehicle.

The 16-year-old dog named Princess weighed only three pounds; she suffered severe injuries, including “acute blunt force trauma,” abrasions and trauma to her head and eye.
The arrest affidavit stated Stacey refused to authorize veterinary treatment for the dog’s injuries. Detectives stated she refused to sign the paperwork approving a $1,000 hold for urgent medical care while arguing with the clinic staff at the Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Care Center.
In addition, there was also a reference to a previous veterinary office visit where the staff tried to intervene after concerns were made referencing the dog’s condition following an earlier incident.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested the Fitzgerald sisters on felony charges of animal cruelty. Both women were taken into custody on February 26. Bond was set at $5,000 for each defendant. Tracey was released after posting bond, and the judge ordered that she “is to not own or possess any animals.”
Pinellas County Animal Services is currently listed as caring for Princess. No updates as to her future have been posted.

These toxic witches both deserve massive fines, jail time AND NEVER to be allowed anywhere near animals!!!
I would LOVE this precious little treasure to join our pack of senior rescues but I am in Washington state and I don’t drive.
