At the Chesterfield Square Animal Services Center in one of the Southern California animal shelters, a viral video has garnered criticism concerning the treatment of a recently surrendered dog being heartlessly pushed into a kennel shortly after his arrival.
Check out the brief video:
The yellow Labrador, named Romeo is only two years of age and weighs 78 pounds; he is available for adoption.

Animal advocates were appalled as they watched the video as the shelter employee appeared to be pushing the dog into the kennel cage with his knee and leg as if he had no patience for a scared pet facing the scary introduction to an unknown future of strangers, excessive barking and a cage.

One volunteer had this to offer:
This isn’t a volunteer giving their time because they love animals. This is a paid employee. Just punching the clock. No patience. No compassion. This is what happens when it’s just a paycheck – animals become objects to move around.
The dog’s name is ROMEO – Animal ID A2256618 2 years old, 78 lbs. Available for adoption at South LA Shelter.
Call South LA Shelter and voice your concerns. Please share Romeo’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends and family. Sharing saves lives.
You can reach the shelter at (888) 452-7381 or 323-565-2161.
