Soldier’s deployment orders didn’t include room for his best friend

Spread the love

Just a few days ago, Rocky arrived at the Weatherford Shelter in Texas. His owner didn’t surrender Rocky because he didn’t want him anymore; he left Rocky at the shelter because he had no choice.

He did try to find Rocky a home before he left, but he did not have any luck.

Deployment orders don’t make room for best friends.

The staff had no doubts that Rocky had been deeply loved and well-cared for. He was truly spoiled, and when brought to the shelter, his person brought the pup’s toys, food and grooming equipment. Leaving Rocky without having some familiar things was never an option, although it was all so heartbreaking.

The hardest part of serving… was saying goodbye to him.

Now Rocky waits, and we are asking everyone to share his photos and his story and help Rocky find a safe and loving home.

This is what we know about Rocky as per the shelter and the Friends of Weatherford Shelter Pets.

Rocky is…

Three years old

Likes female dogs

No cats

Knows commands

Crate trained

Fully vetted

Brought food included

Toys included

Bowl included

Grooming stuff included

The shelter did note that Rocky’s owner will be moving around a lot and will not be able to take his dog back. Rocky needs a permanent home.

Note: due to his job, he cannot take back, he will be moving around a lot and can’t take him back, so we need a permanent home for him!

  1. This precious treasure is totally welcome to join us here in Washington state. He would be very loved and have a great life. Are we eligible adopt him and get him transported to us even though we are so far away???
