When a 911 call had been received by the County of Los Angeles Palmdale Animal Care Center, on March 31, the staff had trouble believing that over a dozen loose small dogs would have been abandoned in a park.

Responders were told a pack of small dogs had been huddled together in a corner of a park in Palmdale, north of Los Angeles. Cpl Ramos and a staff of animal control officers arrived on scene, and that’s when they spotted 16 loose small dogs. Almost every dog had matted fur filled with dirt, urine and feces. They smelled like it too.

Rescuers immediately jumped in to assist with getting the dogs to safety. Officer Gutierrez, ACA Atticus, Cpl. Gomez, and volunteers assisted to make sure every dog was rescued, and that no dog had been left behind.

The dogs, believed to be poodle mixes known as “doodles” are not available at this time for adoption.

While they were busy capturing, Officer Gabriel and Officer Harper were prepping everything to make sure all the dogs would be receiving necessary veterinarian care and vaccinations.

This situation doesn’t happen often. It’s what our team is trained to handle, but we need your help. If you or anyone you know can provide us information on where these dogs came from or who left them at the park, please email us at [email protected]
