In a disturbing animal cruelty investigation underway in Channelview, Texas, authorities are hoping the public can help to supply information about a puppy discovered packed inside of a trunk at a neighborhood park.

According to the Houston SPCA, on Monday afternoon, the German shepherd was found after a Good Samaritan and area residents heard cries coming from an abandoned suitcase and called authorities. Sheriff officials with Harris County Constable Precinct 1 responded and helped with the puppy’s rescue.

Fortunately the puppy was not injured, but that was because people in the area responded quickly to the situation.
The puppy is estimated to be about nine weeks old, and is now in the care pf the Houston SPCA and receiving the compassion and attention he needs.
