In San Bernardino, California, a 75-year-old United States Army veteran is asking for the public’s help finding his 12-year-old Chihuahua after the dog escaped through a broken fence.

According to the dog’s owner, John Parke, the “reindeer” Chihuahua named Paco is very attached to Parke, especially after the passing of John’s wife.
On February 28, Parke had let his dogs out in the backyard for some fresh air. When he called them to come back, Tiki and Zina ran back into the house, but Paco had disappeared. Parke frantically searched the entire yard, and when he walked over to the northeast corner of the house, he saw the broken fence with a hole in it; an easy way for a tiny dog to escape and go exploring?
Paco had been adopted by the couple back in 2020. The moment Parke’s wife met the dog, the two instantly bonded. It had been love at first sight.
Paco does not have a microchip, and Parke is asking people not to chase him if the dog is spotted. Deer Head Chihuahuas can be very timid causing them to panic and run farther away. Small dogs can hide under bushes, in shrubs or in corners of a home or garage.
All Parke wants is the return of his dog. Paco does love children and Mexican music.

Deer Head Chihuahuas can be timid if scared; chasing them may cause them to run further away. For anyone who has never heard of a deer head Chihuahua, the breed is characterized by having a longer snout, sloped forehead and larger ears. Many say the dog resembles a miniature deer. These little guys generally weigh between four and six pounds.
Anyone who has seen Paco or knows his whereabouts is urged to call (840) 255-5538 or contact the San Bernardino Police Department.
