NYC rescuers answer urgent plea after tiny puppy surrendered in heartbreaking condition

The New York City Second Chance Rescue received an urgent call for help on Tuesday from a rural shelter after an owner surrendered a tiny puppy in unimaginable condition.

Rescuers rushed to the puppy’s aid and were both shocked and heartbroken at what they saw. The innocent pooch had been suffering from severe facial trauma which included multiple fractures. His eye had ruptured within the orbital cavity, and every breath he took, air crackling beneath his skin could be heard; a sign of internal injuries.

Supposedly, the owner who surrendered the puppy, told the shelter the injuries had been caused by “another dog.

No one was accepting this explanation:

These injuries are not consistent with a simple dog altercation and even if another animal was involved, where was the intervention? Where was the urgency? Where was the humanity while this tiny puppy suffered?

The emaciated puppy had been suffering for a prolonged and untreated amount of time. He was rushed to a critical care veterinary hospital where he continues to fight for his life.

An active investigation is already underway with animal control and law enforcement.

We need our community now more than ever. Please help us save his life. It can’t end this way.
