Four years after Leovigildo Ramirez’ dog, Cipi, disappeared, who would ever have thought the two would be reunited?

In the summer of 2022, Cipi ran away. Ramirez had been living at an extended stay hotel near the airport with his wife and Cipi, while working as a welder at the Philadelphia Shipyard. One afternoon, while the family had been unloading groceries, Cipi became scared and ran off into the nearby woods.

The heartbroken couple searched the entire area for weeks, posting on social media and checking all of the nearby animal shelters and local rescue organizations. There were never any sightings, and the brokenhearted couple eventually had to move out of state.
Never forgetting about Cipi, Ramirez had made sure to update his dog’s microchip information. After all, miracles do happen, and pets have so often been reunited with their owners because of that tiny rice-sized microchip.

Who would have thought? Cipi came into ACCT Philly as a stray last week! The staff ran her microchip and yes, indeed – another family reunited with their beloved pet. More than likely someone had picked Cipi up and never checked for a microchip; that is until she ran away again.

Ramirez has been living in Wisconsin, but after receiving the call from ACCT Philly, the couple made the 16 hour trip to Philadelphia. When he arrived on Sunday morning, he had encountered the biggest winter storm in years.

The reunion he says was incredible!! It took them 2 days to get back to Wisconsin because of the bad weather, but they are home safe and sound. Ramirez says he’ll be keeping her extra close from now on!!
Welcome home Cipi – another happy ending, and we here at Pet Rescue Report NEVER tired of sharing good news..
