The Clark Township Police Department in New Jersey reunited the owners of a lost dog more than two years after she disappeared. What makes the story extraordinary is the owners of the pooch are from Texas, and somehow the dog ended up in New Jersey.
At the beginning of March, a local citizen had contacted the Clark Police Department to report seeing a dog roaming the area of Clark Commons, a popular outdoor shopping center. Officer Nick Kurus found the dog and brought the friendly pooch back to the station.
Fortunately, the pup had a microchip which helped authorities obtain the contact information for the dog’s last registered owners. Then came quite the surprise; the owners live in Glen Heights, Texas and their dog, named Koko had been missing for two years.
Needless to say, Koko’s family were thrilled and made arrangements to fly in three days later.
Now here’s another part of the Clark Township Police Department that has our continued admiration. Officers from the department didn’t want to send Koko to a shelter for the three days until her family arrived, so they stepped up to care for her and of course – spoil Koko.

And Koko’s spa time began – she was bathed, given treats, walked regularly and provided toys and a blanket to make herself temporarily at home at the police department; all provided by the department members at their own costs.
It wasn’t long before Koko became part of the family; albeit temporary, but why not enjoy the royal treatment?

On Saturday, her owners arrived at Clark Police Headquarters and were finally reunited with Koko. The dog reportedly ran straight to her owners.

Many thanks to the dispatchers – Charlene, Kelly, Ryan and Edward for caring for this special police department guest. Many thanks to everyone in the department.
You guys rock!
