A senior pup was happily reunited with her owner after arriving at the Humane Society of Broward County as a stray. Staff discovered she had been microchipped and were able to contact her family. What could be more heartwarming than a truly emotional reunion that also included the owner’s grandchildren?
According to the Humane Society of Broward County in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, the 11-year-old mixed breed named Mamay is finally home. And it was all because of her microchip that the shelter staff had been able to find her family who had never stopped looking for her or loving her.
Check out this emotional video:
It had been a shock when the shelter called Mamay’s owner informing her, that after all this time, they found her dog. To be sure the dog belonged to the woman named Kathleen, the staff asked her for one detail only an owner would know. The woman described a heart mark on the dog’s back – yes it was there!

Kathleen is currently undergoing cancer treatment and was truly overwhelmed and grateful that Mamay was now back in her arms. After everything the two had been together before the dog disappeared, the reunion means more than Kathleen says she can ever express.

And just to add to the happiness of the emotional reunion, Kathleen’s grandchildren also arrived at the shelter to welcome their dog home.
Now, Mamay will spend her golden years exactly where she belongs safe, loved, and surrounded by family.
This beautiful reunion is a reminder of how powerful microchipping can be. Even after years apart, one simple scan can bring a family back together.
Please make sure to microchip your pets and to update information with the microchip company if your information changes.
