Meet Skylar (A587914), this three-year-old Siberian husky was returned to San Bernardino Animal Services after a few weeks. Why? It’s very sad to say Skylar was returned because his adopter wanted the dog to be an outside pet, but Skylar was very loving and wanted to cuddle up with his family in the house.
And back to the shelter he went, even though his previous family did admit Skylar is a very loving pooch.

Skylar is now on the euthanasia list since once a pet is returned from adoption, the dog often jumps to the top of the last notice list.
Skylar arrived at the shelter on December 1, 2025 and weighed 112 pounds, but when returned to the shelter on January 2, 2026 he weighed 94.4 pounds. He was originally a stray. Shortly after arriving at the shelter, he began coughing and had nasal discharge. He was placed on antibiotics for two weeks. Since his return to the shelter, Skylar is again showing signs of a green nasal discharge and a crusty nose. He was prescribed Azithromyacin for two weeks. He does appear to have been neutered; a veterinarian must confirm.
Shelter notes:
Previous owner returned dog “because he is not an outside dog.” The previous owner stated their cats were scared by the dog’s presence. They also stated Skylar is very relaxed, nonchalant and would make a great family dog. Stated he is very loving and loyal, but because he didn’t want to be outside, Skylar was no longer wanted.
On a recent shelter entry from January 28, the shelter stated:
01/28/2026 EXIT Due to length of time in the shelter and increased risk of severe mental distress (kennel stress), we are seeking an exit for this dog by 2/11/26 at 2PM
