At the Last Chance Animal Rescue in Waldorf, Maryland, some friendships are built on trust and resilience. Meet Blueberry and Meadow; their recently bonded friendship will leave your heart smiling.
Blueberry is a one-year-old French bulldog blend who weighs in at just 14 pounds. Meadow is a seven-month-old black kitten who arrived at nearly the same time; both little ones having experienced trauma that required each of them to lose a leg by surgical amputation.

The two met while recovering at the organization’s veterinary hospital, and they quickly bonded. We’re talking two three-legged survivors, trying their best to learn how to navigate the world – side by side.

They are now proud little tripods.
Meadow possesses natural calming abilities and since being recognized as the Last Chance Animal Rescue’s “kitty ambassador” has brought comfort to dogs healing from surgery. Blueberry bonded to Meadow instantly and returned the love and comforting gestures.

They chase. They cuddle. They adjust. And they are both doing beautifully.
Blueberry has a few more weeks of rehab before she is medically cleared, and then both she and Meadow will be looking for homes.
Would we love to see them adopted together? Absolutely. Most important, however is for both to find loving homes where they will continue to thrive.
