In South Los Angeles in the diverse neighborhood of Watts, an abandoned Chow Chow was discovered hiding in the bushes. It is known for sure she was there at least one long night; she crawled around slowly, barely able to see and walk; just trying so hard just to survive.

A message asking for help alerted Suzette Hall, founder of the nonprofit animal rescue, Logan’s Legacy 29. She arrived to find the five-year-old dog so willing to be rescued. Suzette immediately fell in love.

Onward to Suzette Hall’s partner veterinarian where tests, x-rays, bloodwork and a much needed bath and grooming were performed. Suffering silently from entropion, a condition where her eyelids roll inward, causing her eyelashes and fur to rub against the cornea, leading to intense pain, tearing, infections and potential blindness, had plagued her for years with no relief.

Now named Kiran, this sweet dog, who only wants to be loved and cuddled, also suffers from severe arthritis and a medial luxating patella. Because her arthritis is so advanced, surgery on her knee is not recommended. The condition will have to be medically managed to keep her comfortable and pain free.

I cannot imagine the pain she must have been in — from her eyes to her aching legs.
Her ears were infected but have now been treated.
Everyone who meets Kiran falls in love with her. She is sweet, and all she wants is to be loved. She will lie on the ground, roll just slightly and give you her paw to indicate she would love a belly rub.
Just to be loved is what her life is all about.
Kiran has now been scheduled to have surgery on her eyes. Imagine blinking all day long with lashes scratching your eyes. She has been so brave. The veterinarian staff has been applying drops and daily care to keep her comfortable, but now it’s time to fix it so she can finally live without that irritation and pain.
She deserves the life of a big, humongous teddy bear who only knows love and belly rubs.
She is safe now. She is warm. She is loved.
