12-year-old Reggie lost his person and now sits in corner at shelter on special blanket

Spread the love

Reggie is the oldest dog hoping to find a home at the DeKalb Animal Shelter located in Atlanta, Georgia. Once upon a time, he had his own person and for 12 years lived a life of fun, comfort and love. He had been a lucky puppy; he was adopted from the same shelter in 2014 when he was just a puppy.

Now Reggie waits in a corner in total confusion. Just a month ago, his owner passed away. And this is where he’s been ever since; just sitting on his bed quietly trying to figure out what happened. Did he do something wrong? What happened to his person?

On Sunday, shelter volunteer Jennifer took Reggie outside. The warm sunshine felt so good on his face, and he remembered what life was like before arriving at the shelter. He soaked up the warmth as if he had been cold for a long period of time.

The pup cup was divine.

And then Reggie gently leaned into Jennifer.

He’s gentle, Calm. Seems potty trained. Non-reactive to other dogs and quietly friendly through the fence. He has that slow little shuffle… like he’s tired but still trying.

When it was time for Reggie to return to his kennel, he was given a blanket. He just stood on it as if it meant everything to him.

And then it was time for Jennifer to leave. Please share this sweet dog’s plight with friends, family and on social media. Sharing saves lives.

(Many thanks to Jennifer for telling his story)
