A 44-year-old man who worked as a zookeeper at a private zoo in Parkent, Uzbekistan, entered the enclosure of the lions to record a video of himself to “impress” his girlfriend late last week. The man had been attempting to recapture three lions that had escaped into a courtyard at the zoo, however the lions attacked and killed him.

According to the Mirror, the man identified as F. Irishulov is said to have filmed the incident on December 17, so he could show it to his girlfriend later to “impress” her.

The disturbing video showed the three male lions standing up as Ishulov entered their area. He is repeatedly heard yelling at one of the lions named Simba to be quiet. Earlier in the day, someone left the door unlocked in the lion enclosure, and the huge cats had walked their way into the courtyard. It was just a few minutes after Irishulov entered the courtyard that the lions attacked.

Irishulov had been on the night shift; no one else had been around about 5:00 a.m.

Irishulov is heard screaming as the lions approached and attacked, simultaneously yelling for them to “be quiet, be quiet.”

More than four hours later, another zoo worker discovered the grisly attack and called for help. Emergency personnel tranquilized two of the lions, and the third was shot dead. The man was killed and partially consumed by the lions.

Pet Rescue Report has decided not to post the video.
