Ten-year-old Oliver has been having a hard time. The 18-pound, mixed terrier breed arrived at ACCT Philly as a stray. An APO officer found Oliver hiding under a car; he was injured, but made no effort to refuse the help, and despite his pain, he made no aggressive moves towards his rescuer.
At the shelter, Oliver was assessed by a vet where it was suspected that he had been hit by a car. The next day, his injuries were examined revealing puncture wounds and soft tissue damage to his leg. There was no evidence of fractures, but Oliver is still in pain; he needs a rescue partner to help him manage his pain and fully heal.
Oliver is microchipped, but sadly through checking, it was discovered Oliver’s owner had recently passed away. No relatives have come forward; Oliver is alone and needs our help.
Vet assessment as of July 23, 2025:
“…..Previously described wounds are healing well, and dog is BAR w/ a great appetite. He is, however, still intermittently weight bearing lame on the right forelimb and cries out with most handling, especially flexion of the neck to the left and palpation of cervical spine. Although his sensitivity to handling almost certainly has a behavioral component, dog is clearly still quite painful.”
Here’s the hard part concerning Oliver’s plight:

Oliver ACCT-A-226103 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Oliver must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by FRIDAY, July 25th at 10AM. Should Oliver’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Due to being significantly overcapacity with animals and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.

Oliver is a precious little boy!!! I just wish he were in Washington state😭😭😭 I would happily adopt him if he were closer.
I hope someone local will step up and open their heart and home for this precious little treasure.
