The three-year-old German/Malinois Belgian, named Deuce, has a new person in his life. On Friday afternoon the Phoenix Animal Rescue located in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania posted the good news on their Facebook page:
We are so excited to share that Deuce has left the rescue! His new handler is with the US Army and has lots of K9 experience. Deuce will be able to continue to work as a narcotics detection dog. He will also be staying with us locally so if you see him around, tell him what a good boy he is!
The handsome, well-trained dog had been left behind when his previous handler changed positions. When Deuce first arrived at the shelter, he was shy and nervous, but thanks to the staff and devoted volunteers, Deuce was given the attention, handling and affection he needed to relax.
When Deuce’s story went viral last week after Pet Rescue Report asked for help finding the perfect new home for this exceptional dog, the rescue received numerous applications. They asked everyone to be patient while they figured out which applicant would be the best match for this incredible pooch.
We do want to make sure to add there are more than two dozen shepherds at the rescue still in their care and waiting for that special someone – just like Deuce. And don’t forget lots of other breeds and sizes ready to find homes either.
