In Santa Ana, California, a young stray dog had been silently suffering on the streets. No one seemed to have noticed her as she quietly scavenged for food. She searched the nearby trash cans, the filthy corner grates in the streets and just looked for any bits of food to stave off the hunger pains in her stomach.

The unbearable pain came from the severe mange that covered nearly her entire body. The constant itching caused the open sores which had become raw and infected. Still, no one seemed to have noticed her. No one knew how long she had been suffering, and no one knew where she had come from.

Thankfully, a kind family had taken pity on the dog. They had been able to corner her and tether her to a nearby fence where they put out a blanket, water and food; doing their best they could to protect her until help arrived.

Her fragile body didn’t seem to have much energy left. Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, was called and asked if she could help. Rarely does Suzette refuse; and quickly she headed towards the dog’s location.

And there she was. The smell was unbearable. I saw the deep, open cuts from the severe mange that had gone untreated for far too long; they were painful, angry sores covering her body…
Had it not been for the kindness of the family who tried to help her and called Suzette, the dog may not have survived. She had too many near misses with multiple cars while trying to cross the busy street.
And when Suzette arrived, it was as if the dog knew she was there to help:
She didn’t fight. She didn’t resist. She just surrendered. The moment she was safe, she could barely keep her eyes open. She fell asleep fast, finally able to rest. That’s how exhausted she was. That’s how much she has been hurting.
Suzette describes her as being very sweet and loving. Despite all that she has been through, she is still trusting.

She needs help, and tomorrow morning will be going to the organization’s veterinarian hospital for treatment. Updates to follow.
Welcome home little one – no more days or nights on the streets ever again.
