Too playful? Goofy pup returned to shelter twice for energy level before finding ‘three times the charm’

At the SPCA of Wake County in North Carolina, a very playful one-year-old pup had been returned twice to the shelter for being “too playful.”

Check him out:

DJ was returned for being too playful with other animals in the home. He just wants to be friends, but his high energy, goofy antics, and in-your-face play style haven’t meshed well with calmer companions. He’s a spirited dork which isn’t the right fit for everyone.

When DJ arrived at the rescue organization, he was indeed a love boy, but suffered from anxiety. Being prescribed trazodone has helped him maneuver away from an easily startled and frightened little love bug, to a playful puppy. But nonetheless, he’s a loving, playful puppy.

It wasn’t long before DJ was chosen by another adopter and this time (#2) he thought he was home, but in just two days, they also decided he was too playful, and DJ was returned again. During his trial adoption, it seems as if DJ wanted to be friends with the family’s cats – who didn’t share the same enthusiasm and opted not to be friends.

DJ’s return to the shelter and the organization’s announcement that this had been the friendly pup’s second time brought tears to readers’ eyes. But not to worry, because the power of social media, the power of animal lovers, and the goodwill and energy to share the stories of so many pets needing homes paid off again!

On June 19, DJ was adopted once again. His new family have named him Nova, and they have three dogs in their home already who will certainly keep Nova busy. Have a great life Nova.

There are lots of other wonderful dogs patiently tapping their paws waiting to meet their new family. Please don’t shop when you can adopt.
