No doubt heroes come in all sizes, and this tiny little one is being praised as a hero for helping to save his person’s life after the man fell into a Swiss glacier.

According to the Geneva based, Air Zermatt, a rescue, training and transport company, “the four-legged hero” – an adorable Chihuahua, paced back and forth over the Alpine rock where his owner had fallen into the crevasse as the rescue helicopter surveyed the area searching for the victim.

The unidentified man had been exploring the Fee Glacier in southern Switzerland on Friday when the ice broke while crossing a bridge; he fell nearly 26 feet down. Fortunately, the man did have a walkie-talkie and was able to communicate with emergency personnel, however his exact location eluded rescuers, that is until they noticed the man’s tiny dog pacing repeatedly in one spot.

As the crew concentrated on the Chihuahua’s constant pacing in the same spot, they spotted the man. Rescuers were then rappelled down to the spot, bring the man up to safety and fly him to a nearby hospital.

The rescuers credit the dog’s help with the success of the mission saving the hiker’s life.

We really don’t deserve dogs.
