In Chicago, Bam Bam, the missing service dog has been reunited with his owner. It had been on June 5 when he was stolen.
People from across the country rallied to help the 58-year-old blind Chicago man find his 14-year-old missing emotional support dog. It has been nearly three months since Angel Santiago was last with his dachshund Bam Bam who had been stolen by two men from the man’s own backyard.
It had been two men who reportedly walked into Santiago’s backyard near Monticello and Fullerton Avenues while Bam Bam had been outside on a bathroom break. Santiago, who has been legally blind since birth because of glaucoma and Type 2 diabetes, heard the disturbance and tried to intervene.
According to Chicago Police, the senior Dachshund was dropped off Tuesday night by two people at the 16th District Station on the Northwest Side.

Bam Bam was microchipped and wore a collar with his owner’s information, however had not been wearing his identification when he went out for his bathroom break.
A GoFundMe fundraiser has garnered more than $15,000, but Santiago doesn’t want another dog, as many kind-hearted people have offered; he wants Bam Bam. PETA has offered a $5,000 reward for the dog’s safe return or information leading to his rescue.
Bam Bam appeared healthy; the new have now been reunited.
After a long and emotional nearly three months, Angel has finally been reunited with Bam Bam. The reunion took place on the evening of August 19th, and both are now safely back together.
Out of respect for their privacy, we won’t be sharing every detail, but what matters most is that Angel and Bam Bam are safe and together again.
Thank you to everyone who offered tips, support, and love during this difficult time. Your care and concern have meant so much.
