Someone failed Felicity: Dog left chained to pole attacked by other dogs now receiving care she deserves

A new arrival at Austin Pets Alive! dubbed Felicity has captured our hearts and our hopes for her recovery. Just days ago, an unknown person had failed her; the dog had been abandoned and left chained to a pole. Tethered, hungry and thirsty, she was nearly defenseless as she was being attacked by multiple dogs.

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) arrived at the location after a passerby had notified officers the dog was in peril. And there she was; a gentle, golden-eyed pittie, being attacked by other dogs. Authorities at the scene called for assistance, and an animal protection officer arrived and rushed Felicity to an emergency veterinarian clinic.

At the time of her rescue, Felicity was too weak to stand; she had to be carried in on a stretcher. The team stabilized her, and the next day she was discharged into Austin Animal Center’s care. She was urgently moved to the organization’s medical team facility, as her needs were extensive.

Felicity suffered from multiple deep wounds all over her body. Fortunately, she has had an entire team working to help her get through the physical and emotional injuries she has suffered.

APA!’s Medical Program has tended to her wounds and has prescribed a medicine cabinet worth of medications to provide pain management and ensure no infections set in; however, her helping village is not yet complete. She needs you.

Can you donate today to ensure that Felicity’s village is deep and strong? Dogs just like Felicity need more people standing behind, beside and with them than any person who has so callously let them down?

There are unfortunately no leads to who chained her to the pole and with that, no answers as to why, so the focus remains on the present and future.

If you are interested in helping Felicity by providing her with a foster home to help her heal, please email [email protected] now.
