How could it be? At the Austin Humane Society, a six-month-old puppy named Silkworm is the last of 19 neglected dogs rescued from Bastrop County, is still waiting for her forever home.

Silkworm’s family has all been adopted, and now she’s ready to find her home. She’s six-months-old, weighs nine pounds and is truly a gem of a dog. She’s working on “sit” and is capable of learning so much more. She does well in a crate and loves a good cuddle session.

Stop by the shelter and meet Silkworm aka Silkie Sue today.
As to Silkworm’s past, it had been on October 2, when Austin Humane Society welcomed 19 new arrivals to the shelter. Working in partnership with Bastrop County Animal Services, AHS transferred these dogs, all from a single home, into their care, which came from an overwhelmed owner in need of assistance. Filthy from living outside, they had likely received no veterinary care in their lives.

All of the dogs needed baths and treatments for fleas and internal parasites. In addition, puppies named Aphid and Grasshopper had more complicated health issues with skin infections where they had scratched themselves raw. Aphid also needed cherry eye repair. Several of the puppies suffered from painful ear and infections reflecting severe neglect.
