Shelter puppy ‘Wren’ has day out to curl up on couch, enjoy pup cup and find a new toy

125 DAYS and waiting; that’s Wren at South Carolina’s Greenville Humane Society. The adorable six-month-old black hound has been at the shelter for more than four months – practically her entire life. She watches the other dogs get adopted and eagerly wags her tail as if she’s next, except that has not happened yet.

As volunteers describe the energetic sniffer with her nose to the ground, the sparkle in her eyes and her heart full of joy, it’s just not fair that Wren has yet to find a family of her own.. She eagerly turns over for belly rubs and loves doing zoomies in the play yard; she’s an outgoing puppy with lots of love to give and receive.

How this sweet girl hasn’t been scooped up yet? We’re stumped. But we know her perfect forever family is out there. If you’re ready for a life full of laughs, snuggles, and hound dog hijinks, Wren is waiting, AND sniffing for you.

Check out the video of Wren’s day out of the shelter. It was “Shelter Dog Saturday.”

And just a few days ago, it was “Shelter Dog Saturday” – Wren’s day. She went for a ride in the car, she enjoyed a pup cup and then went shopping for a new toy. Oh, which one to choose was her delightful and perplexing dilemma, but while considering the many fun chewy choices, she met a kitten. “Wanna be friends?” Added to Wren’s day were more scratches, belly rubs and lots of individual attention, Wren’s day out was fun.

And a special thank you to @adventuringwitharchie_ for always helping these day outs go smooth. Over the last couple years we have filmed over 100 episodes of #shelterdogsaturday and all have been adopted, let’s keep that streak going!

UPDATE:

Sweet Wren is out of the shelter! She’s got a little puppy cold, so she’ll be fostered while the vet team helps her heal. Her foster plans to adopt once she’s healthy, but if you’d like to be on the waitlist just in case, email [email protected].

Please don’t shop for your next best friend when you can adopt.
