Just a few days ago, at the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center in Baldwin Park, California, Bella’s family decided their 12-year-old dog was too old. Yes, her eyes were cloudy, she was missing teeth and her once luxurious coat was unkempt and matted. In addition Bella’s ears were infected, and the last time she had been at a veterinarian, she was detected as having a heart murmur.

And there she was … her frail body was ushered into a shelter kennel. Her family never looked back, but Bella stared at them as they left. She was sure they would turn around and be momentarily embarrassed that they had forgotten her – leashed her up and lovingly placed her back into the family car and bring her back home, even if it wasn’t the warmth and love she dreamed about, but it was home.

The staff and volunteers tearfully watched Bella sit perfectly still as her shelter kennel door closed. The dog’s eyes seemed to tear up as if years of neglect and the aches of abandonment came to reality, but Bella tried so hard to deny it. She just wanted to be home.
It wasn’t long before volunteers and the staff reached out to help; Bella could feel it, and her tail flipped a tiny wag, but the soft touches, the baths and the treatment to get rid of those terrible fleas and ticks, made her tail wag even more decisively; there was hope.
volunteer gave her some soft food and treated her to a warm bath, while the RVT tenderly trimmed her nalis and cleaned up the fur around her precious little face. For the first time in a while, Bella looked up with eyes full of gratitude. She relt clean, safe and seen.
Bella is available for adoption. Little ones like these seniors are so often overlooked. She deserves to be pampered, to be loved and to be home.
Please share her plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social medial contacts. Sharing saves lives.
