Scraggly dumped pups went from porch to porch searching for their families

As if there is ever an acceptable time or place to abandon your pets, but dropping them off in a strange neighborhood in Wilmington, California and not caring if they lived or died as Thanksgiving Day approached, makes their story even more desperate and heartbreaking.

But there they were; two lost souls – a male and a female running from porch to porch, curling up together and hoping the door would open, and they would be welcome. It had been hard for them to believe it wasn’t true.

The neighbors had known the dogs had been dumped – the two had been left behind and forgotten. Just one week before Thanksgiving, the two were just so hungry.

They didn’t have a nice Thanksgiving.

In fact… they didn’t even get any food.

Fortunately a local animal advocated reached out to Suzette Hall, an independent rescuer, and on Thanksgiving Day, Suzette and her team arrived at the location. When they arrived they could almost feel their hunger as the desperation showed in their eyes.

The humane traps were set.

‘I honestly don’t know when they last ate,’ Suzette stated. ‘I set one of my traps, and before I could even turn around, one of them was already inside — that’s how hungry and desperate he was.’

Rosario Ortiz and Suzette quickly set up an X-pen around the trap, hoping to guide the little girl into the safety of a small enclosed space. And it worked. The women gently closed it off, and just like that, the female pup was safe too.

Both of them were so matted, so scraggly and so tired.

The little girl was even limping; not from an injury but from pure exhaustion. The two had been exhausted from waiting. They had not given up; they had hoped, but their owners likely had not thought twice of the loyal little dogs they heartlessly deserted.

.

But on Thanksgiving night, these two dumped, abandoned, forgotten babies are SAFE.

They are RESCUED.

And now, they will never spend another holiday — or another day — alone again. Meet Sienna and Lux.
