Santa left a toy on Christmas for every pup on their walk at Mobile animal shelter

No doubt, the City of Mobile Animal Services has the best staff and the best volunteers and some particularly impressive connections. In the very early hours of Christmas morning, Santa Claus arrived on his sleigh with his nine famous reindeer and left a toy for every pup on their walk. For a dog with no family, a toy meant the world.

On Christmas Day volunteers arrived to walk shelter dogs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteer applications were ready to be filled out upon arrival.

It remains an open invitation.

Already have holidays plans scheduled? No worries — you’re welcome to volunteer to walk dogs any other day too!

Imagine how much brighter and more fun it had to have been for the shelter dogs who had been given the opportunity to choose a squeaky toy, a stuffie or even an enrichment item to help fill the hours while they patiently wait for their new homes.

The shelter is proud of all the work their team has done this year to make Mobile Animal Services a better place for both the two-legged employees and volunteers as well as the four-legged friends who need help.

So far this year, the shelter has:

helped 1,062 pets find new homes.

helped 152 lost pets reunite with their families.

transferred 570 pets to other rescues.

received 5,399 animal control requests.

  • Many thanks to everyone who donated.

This is how hard these people work to help those who cannot speak.

Donations are always needed and very appreciated. Fostering, volunteering and adopting your new best friend will brighten lives and make dreams come true for both a pet and their lucky human.
