At the Joplin Humane Society, in Missouri, nearly half of Sunny’s precious puppyhood has been spent in the shelter. Friendly and active puppies like Sunny need loving homes to become the best canine citizens they can be, and a shelter is no place to grow up.
Sunny is a young shepherd blend expected to weigh about 25 pounds when full grown.

Here’s what the humans have to say:
Sunny’s adoption fees are sponsored. This joyful puppy loves to play and has a sweet curious streak. She is friendly and is a favorite of both the staff and visitors. She is always ready for a game of fetch, a brisk walk, bouncing around for fun and enjoying every day of her active puppyhood.
Sunny is already able to go from active and frantic in the shelter environment to immediately calm down and relax as soon as the shelter noise disappears. She loves riding in the car, walks great on the leash and has developed great manners. She does well with children and is long overdue for a loving home.

Dogs are generally tested with dogs of their size in a group setting, and dog meet-and-greets with the adopter’s dog(s) are always encouraged. A cat test may be conducted at the adopter’s request but should only be used as a general-purpose screening to rule out overt aggression. The organization never recommends leaving young children unsupervised with dogs, and cannot guarantee the behavior of dogs with children, other pets, or cats.

Behavioral observations in the shelter environment should be considered as a snapshot of the behavior of the dog.
