In Atlanta, Georgia, more than 80 French bulldogs and Pekingese were found living in rooms where urine and feces covered the floors. Some of the dogs had been living in small crates while others were locked away with no food or water.

The dogs showed clear signs of abuse and neglect. Some suffered from painful skin problems, mobility issues and eye diseases. Mother dogs struggled to care for their newborn puppies in the filthy and dangerous conditions. According to the Atlanta Humane Society, five of the dogs had died. Many of the survivors are sick and frightened.

Two Persian cats were also rescued.

Other agencies that will care for the rescued animals include the Bulloch County Humane Enforcement Division and the Humane Society of South Coastal Georgia.

Thanks to the efforts of the Animal Protection Unit of the Atlanta Humane Society, all of the dogs have been rescued.
After subjecting these animals to neglect and abuse, the individuals responsible are being prosecuted. On Tuesday, deputies arrested Debra Jo Green and Kenneth Mark Berrin on felony animal cruelty charges.

The Animal Protection Unit continues to work with law enforcement to ensure accountability.
Your support will provide ongoing care for these rescued animals and strengthen cruelty investigations.
