Lonely rescue dog just happy to play with neighbor dogs even if on the other side of fence

No doubt socialization among our canine friends is important as they learn how to make friends. There are lots of options exposing your favorite pup to different people, animals and environments in a controlled but fun way; all designed to delight and enrich their lives.

There are lots of ways for socialization opportunities from dog parks, where with careful supervision, dogs can play and interact with other dogs. Daily walks expose dogs to different sights and smells and introduces them to other people. Visiting pet stores expose dogs to other animals in controlled situations. Then there’s doggy day care and playdates with other dogs.

If you’re really lucky, your dog gets to make friends with the neighbors’ dogs, and oh so how convenient and even better, so much fun for your dog.

On a recent TikTok video posted by @yizzayy, we watched her rescue pup waiting patiently on her side of the fence for the neighbor’s dogs to go outdoors. As if, when she turns around to look at her mom, pleading with those big brown expressive eyes, where are they, the dogs finally run out and right to the fence line where she waited.

Who’s happier is up for debate, but then comes what might be the happiest part of the outing. Everyone seems overjoyed to see each other and chase each other up and down the fence line even though they remain separated.

Becuz he’s lonely

Check this out. The popular video has garnered more than 34,000 views with some people stating they were brought to tears watching her waiting so patiently for her friends to finally appear.

No doubt dogs get lonely. Here are some signs:

Clinginess: dogs who are usually independent may suddenly want to be with you a lot more

Destructive behavior: dogs might howl, bark, whine or destroy household items when left alone

Lethargy: dogs may sleep more than usual or lose interest in food or playing

Repetitive licking: dogs may lick so much and cause open sores

How you might help a lonely dog:

Provide them with toys that stimulate their brains; lots of puzzles out there made specifically for canines

Take them with you and go for walks, rides in the car, park visits

Get another dog as a companion to help alleviate boredom and loneliness

Hire a dog walker or sitter a few times a week

Leave music on when you’re not home

Socialize your dog from the first day he comes home with you
