A Houston man is charged with felony animal cruelty for torturing a nine-month-old Labrador retriever named Timmy. According to Alan Rosen from the Harris County Constable Precinct One, the puppy’s treatment by his owner was both “cruel and sad.”

Good Samaritans recorded the disturbing situations and turned the evidence over to the Harris County Constable’s Office. Gerald Allen Young II, 23, faces two felony counts of animal cruelty as the result of a joint investigation by Constable Precinct One’s Animal Cruelty Unit and the Houston Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals.

The puppy is now in the care of the Houston SPCA’s veterinary team. He is in stable condition, however suffered three fractured ribs and a collapsed lung. Houston SPCA says a cruelty report likely saved his life.
Disturbing videos of repeated abuse and cruelty had been captured on video as witnessed by several witnesses.

In one video, the defendant punches and kicks the dog, as well as lifts it off the ground by the scruff of the neck and then hurls it with what investigators describe as “extreme force.” The dog is launched about five feel down the hallway of an apartment complex. Audio captured the puppy yelping out as his collar snapped off, and he was able to run away from Young.
In another incident, Young is accused of body slamming the dog into concrete, and in a third video, Young is alleged to have lifted the dog from the ground by his neck and walked about 10 feet while the dog is suspended in the air.
Young is charged with two third-degree felonies that carry a penalty of two to 10 years in prison as well as fines of up to $10,000.
