Talk about not judging a book by its cover, these two canine bully buddies had been reported running loose on a local street in Colorado Springs earlier this week. No doubt, some people thought they had to run for their lives.
After a few concerned citizens called about the dogs, Officers Womack and Tait from the Colorado Springs Police Department, responded to the call about the two “pitbulls” spotted near the 7000 block of North Academy Boulevard. The dogs had escaped from their yard through a fence and were scared and overheated. We can assume some area residents were frightened of the two dogs; after all, the dogs are big and sadly, carry the often mislabeled descriptions of their overall breed temperaments.
The officers, both who happen to be animal lovers, approached the dogs slowly. Armed with a little cheese and a lot of patience, the officers were able to gain the trust of the dogs and get them to safety.
They gave them fresh water and stayed with them until their owner arrived, who had been frantically searching for them.
These two big softies were just frightened and thirsty, and thankfully, they crossed paths with two officers who went above and beyond to help.
Many thanks to Officer Womack and Officer Tait, for looking out for all community members, even the four-legged ones.
