In Lakeland, Florida, a cat named George escaped from the SPCA Florida following his surgery to be neutered and found his way home; mind you, home was three miles away!
According to Randa Richter, the media director for the organization, she told McClatchy News, that George “broke out of his carrier,” scaled an 8-foot fence and ran into the woods. And to top it all, George was still feeling the effects of the anesthesia from his procedure. He was gone in seconds.

Bob Beasock, who had been caring for George, was heartbroken. The cat was known throughout the community of Loma Verde where he had been receiving care by neighbors. He even had a favorite chair he would curl up in and take a nap.
Fast forward to one week later, and there he was! George returned to Loma Verde, estimated to be almost three miles from the vet’s office. Imagine everyone’s surprise. Bob found George in his favorite chair.
there was george – stretched out in his chair in our carport, looking like he had just returned from a grand adventure. He was a bit thinner, clearly hungry, but otherwise no worse for the wear.
No doubt, George had quite the journey. He would have had to cross busy highways, slip past barking dogs and find his way around unknown neighborhoods to find home, and let’s not forget, he was still recovering from the after effects of neuter surgery.
George is most definitely a super kitty.
How do they do it? Seems as if George has quite a few of his 9 lives left.
