At the Forgotten Now Family Rescue, a group of dog loving women in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, visit the city shelters every weekend. It’s their time to make sure the dogs are told their lives really do matter, and that this brave group of volunteers are trying as hard as they can to save them.

It was just a few days ago, when one volunteer had been halfway down the shelter aisle when she looked into the kennel; her heart sank.
these two were clearly best friends and just shut down. They are both 13+ years old and now on a shelter floor.
The kind woman sat with both dogs for a long time. Their kennel card stated they had been taken to the shelter during an eviction.

My heart broke all over again. I don’t know their mom or dad. I don’t know why they lost their home. I didn’t walk a mile in their shoes .. my heart broke all over again. Imagine losing your home and your dogs being stuck at the city shelter on a euthanasia deadline.
Are the owners allowed to visit their dogs? Are they heartbroken because they can no longer be with them or help them out of the shelter before they take that long and lonely walk down the hallway?

It was Saturday afternoon that the volunteer noted the dogs’ deadline and asked to be notified if the dogs had not been rescued or if their family had not returned. Yes, the day came; they were scheduled to be euthanized, but that next morning the volunteer rushed to the city shelter and brought them to safety.
These dogs deserve to have comfort and companionship in their senior years. They are now at medical boarding where they are together. Sadly, the facility is loud and overwhelming for the dogs.
They need a foster or adopter who will keep them safe and comfortable. Both dogs are very friendly and love everyone.

These two deserve a chance.
And to their owners:
We know your heart broken and need a place to heal. ❤️ to their parent if you’re reading this. I’m so sorry you fell on hard times. I was praying you were coming back but I understand you couldn’t.
Please know these two are loved now.

Quite the concert

Both of these bonded seniors are welcome to join us. We have a huge backyard and comfortable house.
I don’t have a way to transfer them to Washington state.
